Celebrate Women's Strength & Creativity Together

Ladies, who is your (s)hero?

My (s)heroes are all of the women in my family! Celebrating my maternal grandmother's strength in raising eight children. We know, this was no easy feat! (Lucille, was not to be played with)! This is where my mother and her sisters strengths come from. I also celebrate her creativity. Before there were black dolls, my grandmother would purchase a doll for us and paint her brown. Her love for us came from the depth of her heart and soul. She is where my creativity stems from; she is where (and, my family knows this) my love for thrift and second-hand stores come from (a fanatic). She and I were eco-friendly, before it was chic and necessary! Next, my paternal grandmother who loved people and was a mother to everyone. Who always saw good in everyone. She was raised without a mother (who died when my grandmother was very, very young) - and her strength in giving that love of a mother, when she did not have it herself. A woman who cherished and whose passion was her family. Who's love was truly unconditional! She passed that baton to my dad...who loves my mother unconditionally! Of course, I have to give it up for my mom, whose strengths were "improving on self". She was a young wife and mother and continued her education while raising a family! (I'm still trying to learn how to maneuver that balancing act). She loves her siblings (6 sisters and a brother)...talk about a diva society!...and was there for them. She's overcome obstacles in her own life, improving herself and is constant in uplifting and inspiring my sister and I (and grandchildren) for greatness! To all of my aunts, in all of their special ways for keeping me grounded in WHO I am and WHERE I come from! To all of the women who have entered into my life, I feel blessed to have YOU as an inspiration and want to celebrate YOUR strength and creativity!
